Experience with children & adolescents

RCSummer, Robert College Summer Camp       Summers of 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015

Psychological Adviser, Performing Arts Coordinator, Counselor

  • While organizing creative activities to encourage 4-8 and 8-14 year old Turkish children to speak English, had first hand experience with issues children have when they are in a structured environment away from home.
  • Handled the personal problems of counselors, from mild daily concerns to serious psychological issues.
  • Learned how to problem-solve, manage participation and behavioral issues of children, such as:

Turning problem children into enthusiastic participants by figuring out the strategies to which they respond the best. For two participants, scolding or sweet talking did not work but giving one of them responsibility and putting him in charge, and making the other a deciding agent in the performance he is a part of stopped both participants’ inappropriate behaviors.
