Murat Sözer is a Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Koç University.


Research Interests
:

  • Manufacturing of fiber reinforced plastic composite materials,
  • Process modeling and control in composites manufacturing,
  • Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) process,
  • Vacuum Infusion (VI) process,
  • Resin flow simulations,
  • Material characterization experiments (permeability and compaction of fabrics),
  • Modeling nonlinear unsteady free-surface flows,
  • Vortex sheet method, strip theory and perturbation method.

He worked as

  • a design engineer at Aselsan Military Electronics Inc., Turkey (1986-1989),
  • a visiting instructor in Mechanical Engineering at University of Delaware (1995),
  • a technical editor at Prentice-Hall Publishers (1996-1997), and
  • a post-doctoral researcher in Center for Composite Materials at University of Delaware (1997-2000).

He is the co-author of

  • a book and three chapters on manufacturing processes of composite materials,
  • 30 journal papers and 27 international conference papers.

He is the recipient of Outstanding Teaching Award (Koc University wide) in 2011-2012 when it was organized for the first time in its history. He has been the director of Koc University Office of Learning and Teaching (KOLT) since 2012.
