Murat Sözer is a Professor at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Koç University.
Research Interests:
- Manufacturing of fiber reinforced plastic composite materials,
- Process modeling and control in composites manufacturing,
- Resin Transfer Molding (RTM) process,
- Vacuum Infusion (VI) process,
- Resin flow simulations,
- Material characterization experiments (permeability and compaction of fabrics),
- Modeling nonlinear unsteady free-surface flows,
- Vortex sheet method, strip theory and perturbation method.
He worked as
- a design engineer at Aselsan Military Electronics Inc., Turkey (1986-1989),
- a visiting instructor in Mechanical Engineering at University of Delaware (1995),
- a technical editor at Prentice-Hall Publishers (1996-1997), and
- a post-doctoral researcher in Center for Composite Materials at University of Delaware (1997-2000).
He is the co-author of
- a book and three chapters on manufacturing processes of composite materials,
- 30 journal papers and 27 international conference papers.
He is the recipient of Outstanding Teaching Award (Koc University wide) in 2011-2012 when it was organized for the first time in its history. He has been the director of Koc University Office of Learning and Teaching (KOLT) since 2012.
