In this project we were expected to build the Turning Gate system in two parts.
First part is the basic consist of the transmission part, and the second one was the study the gear.
First we draw the system and determine the main parts. We specify the critical points on the main parts and then we started with the kinematics analysis.
In this analysis we put our full concern on the velocity and the acceleration of each specified point in a full time span of the system, which is again determined by us.
The full time span, power of the motor and the following properties are calculated.
After these steps we revise the kinematics we have done again on the basis of the information we get from the second part.
Unigarphics drawings and Matlab code was the last step of our project.
We decided to use Plexiglas and wood because they were cheap, light and strong enough. We built our system on a light colored wood because we wanted to show the trajectory of the door by placing a pencil on the door itself. Thus, we were able to see how angles vary with each movement.
