Short Bio:
Onur received a Ph.D. degree in physics from University of California, Berkeley. He also has MS and MA degrees respectively in Electrical Engineering and Physics, both from the UC Berkeley. His BA degree is in Physics from METU. He recently joined the faculty of Koc University where he is currently an assistant professor in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He also worked at Apple Inc. focusing on OLED display technology, Intel Corp. developing new chemical mechanical polish techniques for new VLSI process, and Solopower Inc. researching flexible thin film solar cells.
Dr. Ergen’s research interests encompass the fields of chemistry, physics, materials science, and electrical engineering. He is building next-generation electronic devices by focusing on the integration of nanoscale electronic materials. He develops unique architectures and devices for various technological applications, including 2D electronics, flexible circuits and sensors, and energy harvesting and storage. He is also applying artificial intelligence to various energy concepts such as renewable energy integration, energy efficiency, and smart grid.
