Attila Gürsoy is a professor of computer science in the Department of Computer Engineering, Koç University, and Associate Dean of Engineering. He received his PhD degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Computer Science in 1994. He was a postdoctoral research associate at the Theoretical and Computational Biophysics Group at Beckman Institute, UIUC during 1994-96.
Dr. Gursoy’s co-directs the COSBI LAB (Computational and Systems Biology Lab). His research is in the area of computational and systems biology, high performance computing and simulations, particularly on protein-protein interactions and signaling networks. He published over 60 articles in high impact journals, receiving over 6000 GS citations. He acts as an academic editor of PLos ONE. Dr. Gursoy serves as an executive committee member of the Informatics group of TUBITAK (the national Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey). He is a founding member of the Turkish Bioinformatics Association. Dr. Gursoy received the Werner-von-Siemens Excellence Award for Science and Innovation for his work on high performance computational biology. He is a member of Science Academy (Turkey).
